Sangareddy: Inspired by the “Gift a Smile” initiative launched by BRS working president KT Rama Rao in 2019, young BRS leader and former Telangana State Technology Services chairman Patimeeda Jaganmohan Rao has helped over 100 meritorious students across Telangana over the past six years, while also undertaking various social service activities, especially on Rama Rao’s birthday each year.
A staunch follower of Rama Rao and convenor of the BRS social media wing, Jaganmohan Rao has so far distributed 70 tablets and 30 laptops to bright students in need. This year, he plans to gift six laptops and six mopeds to differently abled persons on the occasion of Rama Rao’s birthday.
Since the mopeds are being customised to meet the needs of the beneficiaries, Jagan will present the gifts on July 29 in the presence of Rama Rao.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Jagan said he was deeply inspired by the idea of reaching the needy and always chose to follow in the footsteps of “Ramanna,” as he fondly refers to Rama Rao. “I have always wanted to reach out to as many students as possible,” he said.
Recently, he presented a laptop to Y Thitheeksha, a State second ranker who scored 994 out of 1,000 marks in the BiPC stream, with Rama Rao himself handing it over. Jagan has also extended financial support to at least 10 poor yet bright students by covering their tuition fees.
During Rama Rao’s birthday celebrations in 2023, he distributed 18,000 notebooks to 1,800 students, arranging them into a mosaic art of Rama Rao. Jagan said he would continue these efforts in the coming years, aiming to support and uplift as many students as possible.
