BRS MLC K Kavitha submitting a formal complaint to Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, urging action against Teenmaar Mallanna for his derogatory remarks against her, in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha demanded the immediate suspension of MLC Chinthapandu Naveen alias Teenmaar Mallanna from the Legislative Council for making inappropriate and derogatory remarks against her during a recent public event.
She accused the Congress government of inaction despite 24 hours passing since the remarks surfaced, and questioned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s silence.
“Women are highly respected in Telangana. But the kind of language used by Teenmaar Mallanna discourages women from entering politics. If such comments against a woman legislator go unpunished, what hope do ordinary women have?” she asked.
Kavitha has formally complained to Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, urging action against Teenmaar Mallanna for his derogatory remarks against her. She requested the Council Chairman to refer the matter to the Council’s Ethics Committee under Rule 262-C, Sub Rule 1, for appropriate action.
Speaking to the media, the BRS MLC condemned the MLC’s rhetoric and warned that she would not remain silent. “I am not going to sit idly by. Unless the Chief Minister responds and initiates action, it will be assumed that he was the perpetrator of these comments,” she said.
She also sought a full probe into reports of firing at the protest organised by suspected members of Telangana Jagruthi at Mallanna’s office, following his comments.
