RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said on Friday that the party had only lost power but not the affection of the public, and its fighting spirit.

Rama Rao was surprised after seeing the response from the public when he toured areas in Sircilla town.

The response made him think if the BRS was in power or the Congress. Not only in Sircilla, but BRS leaders were also getting warm reception from the public everywhere.

“The people have love and affection for the BRS. They were waiting for a better opportunity and would teach a befitting lesson to Congress whenever they got an opportunity. Losing power has also helped the party since the people were able to assess the capabilities of both the previous BRS government and the present Congress government,” he said, adding “The BRS leaders should respond quickly to the public problems. Though their term has been completed, people will approach former municipal councilors to explain their problems. Instead of getting irritated, councilors should respond positively and try to solve their problems by speaking to the officials.”

Rama Rao made these comments while participating in the felicitation of the outgoing chairmen and councilors of the BRS in the Sircilla and Vemulawada municipalities, at the Telangana Bhavan in Sircilla.

Reacting to the contradictory statements of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet Ministers on crop loan waiver, the BRS leader wanted the State government and the Congress leaders to stop misleading the people.

“While the Chief Minister claimed that the crop loan waiver was done one hundred percent, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said some farmers had not got the benefit,” Rama Rao said.

There were four years for the elections. So, the Congress government should prove its sincerity by taking up development. Instead of implementing promises made to the public, Congress leaders were always thinking about how to register cases and whom they should arrest, the BRS leader remarked.

A lot of development was done during the nine-and-half-year tenure of the BRS government. Though the population of Telangana was less than 3 percent of the country, villages of the State won 30 percent of awards. The face of municipalities had changed a lot under the leadership of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

“Municipalities from the State stood in the second position after Maharashtra by winning 26 awards. It was only due to the united efforts of the councilors, ward members, sarpanches, ZPTCs, and MPTCs,” Rama Rao said.

What was the condition of Sircilla before 2014 and now? He questioned and said that people would remember the development done in the BRS regime even after 30 years. However, the State government was stalling funds instead of sanctioning more to enhance its image among the public.

Before the 2023 elections, he sanctioned Rs 40 crore to take up various developmental works in Sircilla town. However, the present government stalled the funds. Except for borrowing Rs 1.60 lakh crore during the last year, the Revanth Reddy government had done nothing for the development of the State, he said.

Rama Rao wanted the Ministers and the Congress MLAs to attend gram sabhas and explain to the public when they would implement the promises made during the elections. Women were eagerly waiting for the Rs 2,500 benefit, the BRS leader said.
