Hyderabad: A senior minority leader of BRS, Abdul Muqeet Chanda, questioned the truth behind the ‘Muslim means Congress, Congress means Muslim’, statement recently made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during a public rally.
Muqeet said that if the Chief Minister was sincere he would by now have two Muslim leaders as Rajya Sabha members and at least two MLCs.
“It is sad to note that Revanth Reddy has failed to give any post to Muslims except a handful of nominated positions in the minority department. After BRS raised the issue, Mohammed Azharuddin was inducted as a minister in the cabinet. Still, Revanth Reddy considers himself a friend of the Muslim community,” lamented Muqeet Chanda.
He said that the Chief Minister’s recent statement that “Congress hai toh Muslim hain” had hurt the Muslim community and highlighted the divisive politics of Revanth Reddy.
“The people will teach the Congress a lesson in the Jubilee Hills elections,” he said.
The BRS minority leader alleged that the Congress government is using the government machinery to target the minority leaders of the BRS, demoralise them and prevent them from campaigning.
