Hyderabad: A delegation of BRS MPs met Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and HD Kumaraswamy, urging intervention on two key issues of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) land auction and revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant in Adilabad.
BRS Parliamentary Party leader KR Suresh Reddy, Deputy Leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra and Whip Deevakonda Damodar Rao met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, seeking to stop the Congress government from auction of 400 acres of UoH land in Kancha Gachibowli.
They explained about the ecological significance of the land which is home to rare plant species, deer, peacocks, reptiles, and other animals and birds, besides natural ponds and rock formation. They stressed that the auction would impact students and future expansion of the university, besides affecting the biodiversity. Pradhan assured the delegation of immediate action.
Later, the BRS leaders met Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy, urging the reopening of the CCI plant in Adilabad, which was shut down years ago. They stated that the plant’s closure left hundreds of workers unemployed and thousands of families in distress. Kumaraswamy assured them that the Centre would review the issue.
Former Ministers Jogu Ramanna and V Srinivas Goud, MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar, former Rajya Sabha MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, and several student leaders also participated in the meetings.
