BRS questions Revanth Reddy over double standards in contract allocations
BRS leader Manne Krishank accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of double standards in awarding government contracts to firms he earlier criticised. He demanded a probe into past allegations or an apology for making false claims against the BRS leadership.
Hyderabad: BRS leader Manne Krishank lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over what he termed blatant hypocrisy in awarding major government contracts to the same companies he once described as “East India Company” forces exploiting Telangana. He dared the Chief Minister to either order a probe into the allegations made against the contract agencies during his tenure as TPCC president or admit and apologise for spreading false charges against the BRS leadership.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Krishank said that when Revanth Reddy was TPCC president, he held several press conferences alleging that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister KT Rama Rao were favouring select businessmen and contractors. “Today, the same Revanth is handing out contracts to the same individuals and companies he once called traitors of Telangana,” he said.
Pointing specifically to KPC Projects, the BRS leader recalled that Revanth Reddy had repeatedly claimed that KC Pullaiah and Company from Proddatur was renamed as KPC and awarded several contracts by KT Rama Rao. “But now, the head of KPC, Anil Kumar Shetty, is close to Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy. If KPC was linked to KTR as Revanth Reddy claimed, why did the Congress government award a Rs 400 crore KTPS project to it?” he asked.
Krishank also referred to Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy’s earlier allegations linking another firm, Phoenix, to KT Rama Rao. “Today, the same Phoenix is working closely with Revanth Reddy. What happened to all those accusations?” he questioned. He alleged that Revanth Reddy built his political career by making allegations against the BRS leadership and was now contradicting every charge he once made. “Revanth Reddy must explain why he is giving contracts to companies he once branded as corrupt,” he asserted.
