BRS Rally: Tension prevails at Secunderabad Railway station

Tension prevailed at Secunderabad Railway Station as police arrested BRS leaders and supporters while preventing a rally demanding the establishment of a separate Secunderabad Municipal Corporation, leading to closures of shops and heated arguments amid slogans against the Congress government.

Hyderabad: Tension is prevailing at Secunderabad Railway station as police arrested Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders while preventing them from heading towards the station in support of their demand for the establishment of the Secunderabad Municipal Corporation.

The rally was planned from Secunderabad Railway station to the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road.

Apart from arresting BRS leaders, a majority of commercial establishments, including Alpha Café and others, were closed. A heavy police force was deployed in and around the station. Armed with canes, police personnel ensured that there was no traffic disruption in the area.

BRS leaders and supporters who turned up to participate in the rally were arrested and prevented from proceeding towards the station.

Despite BRS leaders informing the police that the rally would be conducted peacefully and without causing inconvenience to the public, the police went ahead with the arrests.

Several BRS workers were bundled into police vehicles. Amid slogans against the Congress government, BRS leaders and workers argued with the police for preventing them from heading towards the station.
