BRS targets Congress govt over paddy procurement scam in Telangana

Hyderabad: Former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy charged the Revanth Reddy government with conspiracy to commit a Rs 400 crore scam in paddy procurement. He said the Cabinet, which was scheduled to meet on Saturday, was expected to approve proposals as part of a quid pro quo deal.
“Against Rs 400 crore of Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) in paddy procurement tenders, the government is settling for a mere Rs 68 crore. If this loot is approved by the Cabinet, the Chief Minister and Ministers themselves will be liable for jail,” he warned.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Sudarshan Reddy said the Congress government was adopting a quid pro quo deal to benefit the four bidders and also fill their pockets. He pointed out that though a complaint was lodged at the Punjagutta police station, no FIR was registered. The Civil Supplies department was deliberately attempting to hush up the issue and refusing to share information under the Right To Information Act (RTI) under the pretext of pending court cases, he said.
“How can the government justify its refusal to share information, citing pending court cases? Does it mean people have no right to know?” he asked, vowing to expose more scams of the Congress regime and asserting that people were ready to punish the ruling party in the upcoming local body elections.
