Hyderabad: The Telangana Transport Department has clarified that the luxury bus involved in the Kurnool bus fire tragedy was registered in Odisha’s Rayagada district, not in Telangana.
As per sources, officials confirmed that the bus had accumulated multiple e-challans worth Rs 23,000 in Telangana for over-speeding violations.
However, issues related to fitness certification and permit validation come under the jurisdiction of Odisha authorities, where the vehicle is officially registered.
The Telangana Transport Department stated that it is extending full cooperation to investigation teams and providing assistance in relief and rescue operations.
Authorities have also initiated a review of interstate private bus operations to ensure compliance with safety and fitness norms.
