Hyderabad: The Transport Department has suspended a constable at the Bandlaguda Regional Transport Office (RTO) after a video purportedly showing him counting cash inside the office went viral on social media.

Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. Constable Arun was suspended pending the probe.

The department also removed Bandlaguda RTO Ram Chander and Motor Vehicle Inspector Bhim Singh from their responsibilities and attached them to the Transport Department headquarters.

The action followed the widespread circulation of the video and media reports.

Officials said the inquiry would establish the circumstances under which the cash was being counted and determine whether any departmental rules or procedures were violated.

The department is also examining allegations regarding the presence and functioning of agents on the RTO premises.

Transport Department officials have been directed not to allow agents to operate from or enter RTO offices, with strict action warned against officials found violating the instructions.

The comprehensive inquiry will examine the viral video, supervision at the Bandlaguda RTO and allegations concerning agents.

Further action will be taken based on the findings.
