Cartoonist, Illustrator Gopi dies at 69

He had been suffering from kidney related ailments and diabetes for some time and was being treated at a hospital.

Hyderabad: Noted artiste Gopi (Lusagaani Gopal Goud, who is popular in Telugu literary and cinema worlds for his illustrations and cartoons for more than four decades, passed away due to Covid-19 related complications in Hyderabad on Friday. He was 69.

He had been suffering from kidney related ailments and diabetes for some time and was being treated at a hospital. Gopi’s funeral will be held at Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Jubilee Hills this evening.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao mourned the death of renowned artiste Gopi who hails from erstwhile Mahabubnagar district and stated that Telangana lost a great artiste. He recalled the achievements of Gopi who for four decades displayed his brilliant talent as an illustrator and cartoonist. He expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
