Chhattisgarh players turn up for volleyball event in Kothagudem’s Cherla

Kothagudem: A large number of players from Chhattisgarh have turned up at the mandal level volleyball tournament organised by Cherla police from March 5 to 7.
Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju attended the closing ceremony on Friday along with Bhadrachalam ASP Vikrant Kumar Singh. As many as 56 teams, including teams from Chhattisgarh, participated in the competitions.
The SP said that sports contribute to mental happiness and hoped that youth from the agency villages would reach the national level in sports and bring a good name to the district and the State.
The district police have been working for the main goal of development and welfare of the tribal people living in remote agency areas. The police department has been organising many programmes to reach out to tribals by providing education, medical and transport facilities, Rohith Raju said adding that the sports competitions were being organised as part of that.
The SP congratulated the teams that participated in the volleyball tournament and emerged as winners. Players who were interested and passionate about sports in the agency areas should take advantage of such sports competitions organised by the police to showcase their talent.
He said that it was good to see large numbers of players living in Maoist-affected areas on the borders of Telangana-Chhattisgarh States participating in the competitions. Police would always stand by the tribals and they should not provide any assistance to the banned CPI (Maoist) party.
The SP presented prizes Chimalapadu team that won the first prize, Sundarayya Colony team-the second prize, Pedutlapalli team -the third prize and Mamidigudem team that won the fourth prize. He appreciated Cherla police for organising the volleyball competitions on a grand scale. CRPF assistant commandant Raj Kumar, Cherla CI Raju Varma, SI Narsi Reddy, Keshava and others were present.
