Hyderabad residents raise concerns over C&D Waste, poor roads, sanitation, and traffic issues
Ferozguda stretch turns dumping ground
The State’s Capital is inundated with Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste at every nook and corner, even as municipal authorities are yet to frame a fool-proof system to address this crisis. It has now become normal to spot a big dump of C&D waste, lining streets in residential areas and main roads in Hyderabad.
Take for instance the Ferozguda MMTS station stretch, where huge mounds of C & D waste line the entire stretch for nearly half kilometer. The C&D waste at this stretch is not only an eyesore but also is a public health hazard. Apart from all this, the Ferozguda MMTS main road stretch now has also become a favorite spot for everybody in the vicinity to transport and dump their C&D waste with impunity and without any penalty. I request the municipal officials to quickly take action and penalize individuals who indulge in dumping their C&D waste in open public areas.

Sanjeevaiah Park in bad shape, cries for attention
Hyderabad was once said to have been popular for its parks and lung spaces. Sadly, it is no more. Tragically though, even the existing lung spaces in the city are bereft of proper maintenance and woefully lack in offering a comfortable visit for people to gather and spend some good leisure time.
An example I can cite is the sprawling Sanjeevaiah Park. I was there yesterday with my family and felt bad at the state of affairs. The small water body here is full of wild growth and hyacinth and reflects the lack of care and maintenance. The agency supposed to take care of it should have ensured that the pond is cleaned regularly and is rid of all such unwanted dirty growth. Hope some action promptly is taken to address the situation at the park.

Sanitation goes for a toss in Gudimalkapur
Gudimalkapur is one of the busiest parts of the city with residential and commercial mix. However, sanitation is one aspect that has taken a backseat here and scenes of litter and garbage dotting the street and road corners are quite common.
Every day we come across garbage spread over along the roadside presenting an ugly sight. It is dumped along the footpath and spreads onto the road which causes not only an inconvenience to the motorists but also the pedestrians on this stretch. Some action from the GHMC officials to ensure that sanitation is taken up properly here will be welcome.

Check haphazard parking, encroachments
I am to inform the Hyderabad traffic police officials that many traders are parking their push carts on the road opposite the Indian Bank Falaknuma Branch. Due to the practice the road width had considerable reduced causing problems for the vehicular movement. There is also a wine shop nearby where vehicles are parked in a haphazard manner and it is leading to problems as well. The traffic police should take note of the problem and take necessary steps. The problems at its peak after 9 p.m, when people are heading towards their houses and traffic flow is high on Charminar to Chandrayangutta route.

Misriganj road unmotorable
It is to be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned that the road conditions at Misrigunj have worsened in last few months. The road now resembles an uneven terrain and motorists failing to negotiate it safely are falling down and sustaining injuries. The problem is more during night when the big potholes are not visible further compounding the problems of road users. The authorities should immediately take action and take up the repair works on the road.

Rampalli main road in worse condition
The mud road between main road to Reqelford International School, Rampalli stretching about a one kilometer is not at all roadworthy even for walking. Stones protruding on the surface are damaging vehicles. Scores of buildings were built and many are under construction. This is the only way to go to school. Authorities concerned are requested to take up this matter and lay a concrete road at the earliest. The school management also should initiate immediate action, if not yet taken, by addressing the issue to Municipal authorities.

Precious water getting wasted
Every morning in almost all the colonies under GHMC, precious water flows like rivulets on roads due to wasteful washing of house driveways, two wheelers and cars. This abhorrent practice not only is causing wastage of water but also ending-up destroying the colony roads, which continue to remain in a dilapidated state for a long time.
The practice of washing cars, two-wheelers and driveways gets extreme during festivals, even as the ground water levels continue to drop. The use of water in this wasteful manner instead of using it sparingly is troublesome not only for people walking on roads but even for other colony residents. It is deplorable that such practice is rampant among independent hose owners who are contributing to wastage of water. Politicians, government, police department and other social organizations are requested to work together to advise people to stop this wastage of water.

Monopoly and bad behavior of GHMC garbage vehicle collectors
Families in multiple residential apartments in Northeastern colonies of Secunderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts like Yapral, ECIL, Saket, Nagaram, Kapra, Yellareddyguda etc are facing harassment from GHMC vehicle garbage collectors. There has been a rise in incidents wherein GHMC garbage lifters behaved rather rashly with apartment owners. They have fully monopolized the entire process of collecting garbage.
As a result, quite unreasonably, they are demanding hike in garbage collection rates, asking for ‘Bakshish’ for all festivals and not allowing third party agencies to deal with other kind of waste.
Recently at Yapral, the GHMC garbage collectors along with their vehicles completely blocked workers from a third party agency, roped-in by apartment owners to dispose their dry waste. They threatened and did not pick daily garbage for nearly one week of the entire apartment complex. Despite raising the issue with GHMC, the authorities have not acted or disciplined the garbage lifters. Request GHMC to act on this issue at the earliest.

Road divider causing accidents
On the busy road stretch near Erragadda, a wrongly designed road divider is turning into an accident prone spot for the vehicles. This road divider on the stretch between Erragadda and Sanatnagar road (Czech Colony) has been hurting the drivers and damaging vehicles.
Given the wrongly placed divider, accidents are regular here and at times, we get to see one accident or other almost on daily basis. This hazardous positioning of the divider ends up causing injuries to people and damage to the vehicles.
Apparently, the GHMC wing or any department which is expected to take care of it is not paying attention. We request the authorities to take cognizance of the problem here and take remedial measures to save lives.

Erractic parking at Gachibowli
Erratic parking of vehicles on the road carriageway has become a big issue at Gachibowli. The problem is more aggravating at the pedestrian crossing signal on the old Mumbai Highway after the GPRA quarters road turn.
There are several shops including a wine shop on the left side of the stretch after the landing of Gachibowli flyover and scores of shoppers, end up randomly parking vehicles narrowing down the road space. The road itself is not wide and since the vehicles roll down at a speed from the flyover, the parked vehicles are becoming a major problem.
A pedestrian crossing signal is also located here and as pedestrians wait to cross the road, the entire place turns chaotic particularly in the evenings between 8 pm and 10 pm. The local traffic police should take some action here to address the problem.

Driving woes at Lingampally market
This fascination of traffic police for long U-turn for even a simple straight drive is a big headache for commuters. The other day, driving down from Serilingampally MMTS station towards Patancheru, I came across this u-turn imposition at Serilingmpally market.
On this road, we earlier used to drive down straight to BHEL gate and then further down towards Patancheru. Now, in the market area near Hanuman temple, the straight road is closed and we are forced to take a left detour, travel a little down, take a right u-turn and then a left u-turn to reach the BHEL gate!
The danger for the vehicilists on this stretch is while taking the detour, they end up in the fast moving traffic coming from the Chandanagar and Ashoknagar side and moving towards the flyover. This clash point holds risks for accidents to happen.
