Kothagudem: A senior journalist in Kothagudem has approached the District Legal Services Authority (DSLA) against district officials and the local legislator alleging their failure to address a civic issue.

He said the road from the Post Office Centre in Kothagudem town to Seshagiri Nagar and Hemachandrapuram had been completely damaged in the last two years. The poor condition of the road was causing disruption to vehicle traffic.

Two-wheeler riders were facing serious problems due to large potholes on the road. The common people and pedestrians were facing health problems due to pollution while coal tippers moving with heavy loads on the road often posed a risk to their lives.

The locals had staged several protests demanding the authorities to address the problem. But they failed to respond. The elected members and authorities were behaving completely irresponsibly, senior journalist Reshwanth Panduga said in his complaint.

He appealed to the DLSA to direct the authorities to immediately undertake the road construction work. The district Collector, Kothagudem MLA, SCCL CMD, Kothagudem Municipal Commissioner, Panchayat Raj Officer and divisional engineer (Roads and Buildings) were the respondents in the case.

To this extent, the DLSA registered a Pre Litigation Case (PLC) SR No. 972/2025. Notices have been issued to the above respondents to appear before the District Legal Services Authority on September 29 at 10.30 am.
