Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will soon inaugurate India’s first gas insulated 400 KV sub-station established by the Telangana State Transmission Corporation (TSTransco) at Raidurg in Hyderabad. The sub-station has been set up as part of the electricity network being developed to meet the increasing power needs of a fast growing city like Hyderabad.

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy along with TSTransco and TS Genco chairman and managing director Prabhakar Rao, TS SPDCL chairman and managing director Raghuma Reddy and other officials visited the new sub-station.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the State government was developing an electricity transmission network to address the needs of people of Hyderabad for the next 30-40 years. The transmission network will also ensure uninterrupted power supply to all sectors – domestic, commercial and industrial. Accordingly, the TSTransco is develping 400 KV, 220 KV, 133 KV and 33 KV sub-stations along the Outer Ring Road.

At Raidurg, the authorities have established all the four sub-stations – 400 KV, 220 KV, 133 KV and 33 KV on the same premises. As against the required 100 acres of land for the project, the TS Transco succeeded in setting up these sub-stations in five acres where monopoles and three km of underground cable network were used extensively. The gas insulated sub-stations are semi-indoor and require less land.

“Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and other disruptions, the sub-station has been completed and is ready for inauguration. It has been developed at an expenditure of Rs 1,400 crore and is equipped to supply another 2,000 MW power to Hyderabad city,” he said.
