Kothagudem: The three‑day Coal India Level Inter Company Men’s Kabaddi Tournament (League‑cum‑Knockout) hosted by SCCL Kothagudem Area got underway at Professor Jayashankar Stadium, Rudrampur on Friday.
Singareni Director (Operations) LV Suryanarayana along with Director (P&P) Venkateswarlu, Director (E&M) M Tirumala Rao, Kothagudem Area General Manager M Shalem Raju and others launched the tournament.
The guests said it was a great pleasure for Singareni Kothagudem Area to host the Coal India level men’s kabaddi tournament for the financial year 2025‑26. They said participating in sports helps maintain physical fitness as well as good health.
Winning and defeat should be taken equally by displaying sportsmanship. Teams from eight coal companies under Coal India — SCCL, BCCL, CCL, ECL, NCL, SECL, MCL and WCL — are participating in the competitions.
Suryanarayana said SCCL has been giving high priority to sports. He asked the players to take precautions to avoid injuries and to make these three‑day kabaddi competitions a success with camaraderie.
SCCL recognised union AITUC general secretary K Raj Kumar, representative union INTUC senior vice president C Thyagarajan, Kothagudem Area CMOAI President MV Narasimha Rao, GM (Personnel) Welfare and CSR GV Kiran Kumar and others were present.
