Commercial Taxes SC/ST Association to stage protest alleging discrimination
Say delay in issuance of promotion orders a clear case of disparity
HYDERABAD: The Commercial Taxes SC/ST Association has decided to stage ‘Lunch Hour demonstration’ on Tuesday in protest against the disparity in promotions to SC/ST employees in the Commercial Tax Department.
In a notice to the department Commissioner, the Association members said that the government had approved the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) recommendations for promoting officers to the posts of Assistant Commissioner.
Accordingly, in July the department Commissioner had also approved the names of six DCTOs for promotion to CTO cadre. However, there was a delay in issuance of orders, rendering the DPC held in July 2024 ineffective. All the six DCTOs, who were recommended for promotion belonging to SC / ST community, they said in the notice.
Of the six officers, two are set to retire in January 2025 and March 2025. The delay in issuance of promotion orders was a clear case of disparity and discrimination, they added.
