Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt imposes City Police Act in Khammam in view of Holi
Restrictions would be in effect from 6 am to 6 pm on Feb 14
Khammam: Restrictions under the City Police Act would be in effect under the limits of Khammam Police Commissionerate on Holi, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said in a statement on Thursday.
The Commissioner of Police said the Holi festival should be celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere. Strict action would be taken against those who disrupt traffic on the roads by moving in groups on vehicles, throwing colours on unknown people or forcibly applying colours to people without their consent, he warned.
Dutt said that as part of preventive measures, the restrictions would be in effect from 6 am to 6 pm on Friday to ensure that there would be no disruption to law and order. Police officers were instructed to intensify patrolling at major intersections, Sagar Canal, Munneru and other reservoirs on Holi day.
Similarly, the sale of liquor on the occasion of Holi festival was banned within the Commissionerate limits from 6 am to 6 pm on Friday. Strict legal action would be taken against those who do not comply with the rules, the Commissioner of Police added.
