2025 police report: Crimes against women rise, murders fall in Khammam
The Khammam police commissionerate reported a nine percent rise in overall crime in 2025, with 9,792 cases registered compared to 8,987 in 2024. Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt noted a 21 percent increase in crimes against women, though atrocities against SC/STs and murders declined.

Khammam: Overall crime rate increased by nine percent with 9,792 cases registered in 2025 as against 8,987 cases registered in 2024 in Khammam police commissionerate.
Presenting the Annual Report-2025, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt said crimes against women increased by 21 percent in 2025 in which 1,146 cases such as harassment, eve-teasing, rape and POCSO Act related cases were registered as against 941 cases in the previous year.
Continuing awareness programmes at police station level were being conducted besides ensuring movement of She-Teams to prevent crimes against women, the CP said.
Overall missing cases increased by 17 percent as 705 cases of both men and women missing were reported. As many as 470 women went missing in the current year and 413 women were traced, while of the 162 girls who went missing, 150 were traced.
Atrocities against SC/STs decreased by 15 percent in the current year while murders decreased by 39 percent when compared with the previous year. Property offences decreased by nine percent while recovery percentage increased by 14 percent and detection percentage increased by 18 percent, Sunil Dutt said.
Road accidents increased by five percent in the current year and 332 persons died in the accidents. Intensified safety precautions such as construction of roundabouts at junctions, usage of barricades, effective sign boards, laying of speed breakers, identification of black spots and rectification of errors were taken to prevent road accidents, he noted.
In terms of court convictions the district police achieved 11 life convictions in 2025. During the current year cybercrime cases registrations increased by 28 percent, the police were able to recover Rs 4.5 crore while holding Rs 1.5 crore.
In terms of welfare activities, a police welfare filling station was set up at Konijerla police station to provide quality petrol and diesel to police personnel. A medical room was set up at Sri Krishna Prasad Memorial Police Welfare High School to provide primary medical aid to students, the CP added.
