Hyderabad: Discontent is brewing among BC leaders in the Telangana Congress after an alleged audio conversation involving Youth Congress State president Jakkidi Shivcharan Reddy surfaced on social media.
After the controversies involving TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Forest Minister Konda Surekha, BC leaders now allege that Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Trust Member Eshwaramma Yadav and her family were humiliated by upper-caste leaders in the party over the absence of her photograph on flexies put up in LB Nagar.
Shivcharan Reddy objected to the omission of his father, Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy’s photograph from flexies installed in connection with Eshwaramma Yadav taking oath as a temple Trust Member.
Claiming that his family had served the Mansoorabad division for years, Shivcharan Reddy allegedly called Eshwaramma Yadav’s grandson, Suresh Yadav, over the issue.
In the audio clip, which is circulating on social media, Shivcharan Reddy claimed he held the third-most important position in the party after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the TPCC president.
“How can a widow put up a flexi in the division? What is my stature as the Youth Congress State president, and how will I answer the cadre? How dare you install a flexi without Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy’s photo in Mansoorabad?” Shivcharan Reddy is heard telling Suresh Yadav.
He is also heard telling Suresh Yadav that he was free to complain to Madhu Yaskhi Goud or Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Referring to Eshwaramma Yadav, he allegedly said leaders who frequently changed parties would be questioned and their flexies would be torn down.
The Youth Congress State president also allegedly claimed that he had no bosses in the party and worked according to his own will. BC Congress leaders are unhappy with Shivcharan Reddy’s conduct and are demanding that the party leadership take stern action against him.
BC organisations have also condemned Shivcharan Reddy’s behaviour and warned the Congress party that if it failed to initiate action against him, mass protests would be staged across the State.
