Khammam: Former Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao stated that the Congress party came to power by making false and deceptive promises.
He, along with CPI (M) leaders Pothineni Sudarshan, Bhagam Hemantha Rao and former MLA Chandravathi, conducted extensive campaigning for the victory of BRS and CPI (M) candidates in Wyra Municipality on Friday.
Addressing the voters, he said that Congress leaders deceived the people by giving six impractical guarantees before the Assembly elections, but have not yet implemented promises such as giving Rs.2500 per month to every woman, Rs.4000 in pensions and Rs.6000 to persons with disabilities.
Nageswara Rao reminded that Telugu Desam Party founder late NT Rama Rao founded the party to fight against the autocratic attitude of the Congress party and that TDP cadres should remember this. He expressed happiness that TDP cadres were joining hands with the BRS in many places in the municipal elections.
In Kothagudem, MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra conducted corner meetings in different divisions and complained that the police were overacting and working like Congress party workers, targeting BRS workers. Despite all the conspiracies by the Congress, the BRS would win the elections, he asserted.
Former MLA Banoth Haripriya and municipal election in-charge Gundala Krishna conducted an extensive campaign in Yellandu Municipality. They told voters to question Congress leaders who come seeking votes about the six guarantees they promised before the elections.
Under the BRS regime, the State developed in all sectors and efforts were made for the welfare and development of the people through various schemes. But now, development has been stalled in all towns in the State, they said.
Haripriya urged people to consider whether they want to support the Congress, which was associated with land grabbing and illegal activities, or the BRS, which stands for development and welfare. Congress leaders had encroached upon and divided a graveyard near the new bus stand in Yellandu town among themselves, she noted.
