Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Monday said the Congress government was suppressing voices raised against it and targeting government employees who were pressing for their legitimate demands.
Addressing a programme where best-performing employees were felicitated after receiving awards from the district Collector during Republic Day celebrations, Rao said the Congress government was frequently using the Anti-Corruption Bureau to conduct raids on employees demanding the constitution of a Pay Revision Commission. On the other hand, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had constituted a Special Investigation Team to question opposition party leaders over what he termed the government’s failures.
Recalling the BRS tenure, Rao said the government led by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had implemented a 72 per cent fitment through pay revision. In contrast, the present government had denied benefits even to retired employees, causing distress to employees and their family members. While ignoring employees and farmers, the Congress government had called for tenders worth Rs.95,000 crore over the past two years and released Rs.30,000 crore to contractors, favouring them for commissions.
He said the prevailing situation had pushed the real estate sector into a crisis, with people unable to sell their land even during emergencies. Rao also accused the Chief Minister of deliberately delaying works at Siddipet medical college and veterinary colleges due to political animosity.
