Congress has no moral right to speak on BC reservations, says BJP State chief
BJP State president N Ramchander Rao accused the Congress government of lacking commitment to BC welfare and said it had no moral right to talk about 42 per cent reservations. He also criticised delays in local body polls and the Kamareddy Declaration
Hyderabad: BJP State president N Ramchander Rao on Monday charged that the Congress government had no moral right to speak on 42 per cent BC reservations as it lacked commitment towards the welfare of the community.
He said that if the government was truly committed to BC welfare, it should have followed the legal procedure in extending reservations. For raising BC reservations to 42 per cent, the Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 had to be amended. Instead, it was attempting to blame the Central government, he alleged.
“Till the Congress extends reservations legally and scientifically, it has no moral right to speak on BC welfare,” Ramchander Rao said at a press conference here.
With its false promises and failure to ensure welfare and development in the State, the Congress was deceiving people, particularly the BC community. He described the Kamareddy Declaration as yet another deceitful tactic of the party.
He added that the inordinate delay in conducting local body elections had left gram panchayats facing several problems, especially financial hardships.
