Congress lost moral right to seek votes: Harish Rao in Sangareddy
Former Minister T Harish Rao, campaigning in Sangareddy district, accused the Congress government of failing to deliver on its election promises even after 700 days in power. He criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for not releasing Rythu Bharosa funds on time and failing to provide promised pensions.
Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao, who addressed election campaign meetings in Gaddapotharam and Gummadidala municipalities in the Patancheru constituency on Wednesday, said the Congress party had lost the moral right to seek votes in the municipal elections as it had failed to fulfil the promises made during the Assembly election campaign.
Addressing gatherings during the meetings, Rao said the Congress had not implemented a single major promise even 700 days after coming to power. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has failed to release Rythu Bharosa for the Yasangi season even until February, he said, recalling that farmers were denied assistance under the scheme twice in the first year itself by the Congress government.
He said the government had also failed to provide the promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women and Rs 4,000 pension to elderly persons. Drawing a comparison with the previous BRS government, Rao recalled that under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao, Rythu Bharosa was released despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. He said the BRS government had extended Rs 82,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa covering eleven crops.
The former minister further alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide 24×7 power supply to the agriculture sector, limiting supply to just 12 hours a day. He said the Congress had come to power promising an exclusive budget of Rs 4,000 crore for minorities but failed to honour the commitment, besides denying overseas scholarships to minority students.
Rao also criticised the Congress for hiking bus fares for men while offering free travel to women. Several Congress leaders joined the BRS in Gummadidala municipality ahead of the elections. He called upon party leaders and workers to make a collective effort to ensure the victory of BRS candidates in the municipal elections.
Later, the former minister also addressed an election campaign meeting in Narsapur municipality in Medak district.
