Hyderabad: Putting the State government on the spot, Congress MLC Vijayashanthi questioned the government over the delay in fulfilling the promises made to Telangana movement fighters.
Before the Assembly elections, the Congress in its manifesto had promised allotment of 250 square yard house plots to the movement fighters. Martyrs of the first and last phase of Telangana movement would be identified, officially recognised and a government job would also be provided to one person from the family, the Congress party assured. These apart, the Congress party also promised to pay a monthly honorary pension of Rs 25,000 to the martyr’s mother, father or wife.
Reminding the Congress government all the promises in the Legislative Council on Monday, Vijayashanthi said it has been over two years but the promises were not delivered so far. It would have been wise had the government fulfilled the promises by according top priority. The Telangana movement fighters were politely asking about the fulfilment of promises, the Congress MLC said, adding “This delay pains me a lot”.
