Mahabubnagar: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday revised the State’s debt to Rs. 8.21 lakh crore, up from the Rs.8.11 lakh crore figure he had cited last week, while asserting that the Congress would remain in power in Telangana till 2034.

Addressing a public meeting at Midjil, the Chief Minister said that despite leaving the State with huge debts, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was aspiring to return to power.

“After ruining the State, the BRS now wants to come back to power. But they should remember that the Congress will remain in power till 2034,” he said.

Highlighting his government’s welfare initiatives, Revanth Reddy said the Congress had issued new ration cards, supplied fine rice through the Public Distribution System, sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses in every Assembly constituency, provided 200 units of free electricity, extended Rs. 30,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme and implemented several other welfare programmes.

“Why should a government implementing so many welfare measures be removed from power?” he asked.

The Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of failing to fulfill its promises, alleging that it had not provided irrigation water, pensions, houses or employment opportunities to the youth. He urged young people to compare the performance of the Congress and BRS governments and discuss their governance “at beer shops, marriages and even at funerals.”

Make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister

Revanth Reddy also appealed to the people to support the Congress in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and help make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister.

Recalling that the people of Midjil had elected him as ZPTC in 2006, the Chief Minister said he had a special responsibility towards the development of the mandal. He requested Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to adopt Midjil mandal and personally monitor its development works.

“I cannot do anything much more than this for the people here,” he remarked.

Earlier, Jadcherla MLA J. Anirudh Reddy assured that Metro rail services would be introduced in Jadcherla within the next 10 years.
