Nizamabad: A policeman was stabbed to death by a wanted person after the latter was taken into custody in Vinayaknagar locality here on Friday.
The incident occurred when Constable Pramod caught Riyaz, a wanted person in some cases. As the constable was taking Riyaz on his bike to Town IV police station, the accused stabbed him.
After suffering grievous injuries, Pramod breathed his last on the main road at Vinayaknagar. The accused fled the spot. A hunt is on to nab him.
Rs 1.5 lakh looted from parked car in Sangareddy
Sangareddy: Some unidentified miscreants decamped with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash after breaking open the window of a parked car at the registration office on Friday afternoon.
The victim, Yellaboyina Sravan Kumar of Beeramguda, had come to the registration office with the cash. He went inside the office keeping the cash bag in the car.
The incident occurred close on the heels of another one reported a few days ago in which miscreants decamped with Rs 20 lakh from a car. Following a complaint, the Indrakaran police registered a case.
Fake news on electoral rolls: AERO lodges complaint
Hyderabad: Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency (Yousufguda Circle–19, GHMC), Balaraj filed a complaint with the Film Nagar police regarding circulation of fake news on social media.
The GHMC in a press release said that misleading posts falsely claimed that names of political leaders were included in the electoral rolls with manipulated details, including incorrect addresses, altered photographs, and invalid EPIC numbers.
In the complaint, the police were requested to identify the origin of the false content, conduct a detailed investigation, and take strict legal action against those spreading misinformation.
This is the second instance that GHMC electioneering officials filed cases on fake electoral rolls, within a span of two days.
