Warangal: Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam K Rupala said that Centre was promoting internships by the students of the educational institutions including the India’s premier institutions like IITs in villages through the “Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan” scheme for the development of the rural areas of the country, and urged students to take part in this ambitious programme. He also advised the Chaitanya Deemed to be University (CDU), Hanamkonda, to ensure opportunities for its students at national and international level by enhancing their skills.
Rupala addressed the graduates of the CDU virtually at its 10th convocation ceremony held on Saturday.
“If we educate others, they will provide education to others, everyone will move towards self-sufficiency,” he added. TRS senior leader and former minister Enugala Peddi Reddy, who was the guest of honour, congratulated Chancellor Dr Ch V Purushotham Reddy. “I am happy that these institutions have risen to the level of a Deemed to be University,” he said and added that the graduate students earn a good name for the country and their parents.
CDU VC Prof G Damodar said that a total of 82 faculty members had published 453 articles in various reputed journals, and added that 65 of them had patents to their credit.
“Three faculty members have successfully completed major research projects and 25 members have completed minor research projects funded by UGC. At present, 291 Research Scholars in various disciplines are pursuing PhD programs under the supervision of 71 faculty members,” he said and added that a Mechanical Engineering faculty members had converted a petrol engine car into abattery-operated eco-friendly electric car without gears, designed a solarbike, agri-cultivator, cost-effective electric bike, a digital electronicclock, a digital display board and devised Easy Vehicle Lifting Mechanism. On the occasion, degrees were awarded to a total of 2,998 students. 48 gold medals were awarded to students who achieved first rank in their respective courses.
Ch Suvarna Devi, Secretary, Viswa Bharati Education Society, presented gold medals to university faculty Researchers, the “Brave Girl Child” Award and the “Best Parents” to the winners.
Subsequently, Chancellor Dr CH V Purushotham Reddy launched “Chaitanya News”, the journal “Prakarsha” of the Department of Commerce & Business Management and the “Journal of Innovative Exploration in Engineering & Technology” of the Department of Engineering & Technology. Vice-President of the Viswa Bharati Education Society E Vikram Reddy, CDU Registrar Prof M. Ravinder, Controller of Examinations Prof M Jagadeeshwar, Prof BS Anuradha, DrK Deepashree, researchers, members of the Governing Body, members of theAcademic Council, Deans, various DepartmentHeads, Professors, teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
