Kodakandla (Jangaon): Stating that the State government led by K Chandrashekhar Rao is pulling out all the stops for the welfare and uplift of the farming community, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said there would be no more migration of farmers from the State in search of livelihood.
Addressing farmers and members of the Rythu Bandhu Samithis at a meeting organised on the occasion of the inauguration of the first Rythu Vedika, at Kodakandla mandal centre in Jangaon on Saturday, the Minister said Telangana farmers would soon become the ‘torch bearers’ and show the path of development to their counterparts in other States.
“Today is a red-letter day as the first Rythu Vedika is inaugurated by the Chief Minister. This Vedika will bring about a revolution in the State though the farmers of this region were neglected by the previous governments in united Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
Speaking on the steep rise in the land under cultivation in the State, he said a total of 1.45 crore acres was cultivated this season, thanks to the efforts of the TRS government. “Now, we feel proud of ourselves for this great achievement. The State has not been witnessing any drought conditions since the TRS came to power,” the Minister added.
Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who represents Palakurthy in the Assembly, said that the people of the Jangaon area, which was prone to drought, used to face a lot of troubles due to water scarcity in the past. “But now all the tanks in the district are filled. We are also getting water from the SRSP and the Devadula project. The Kaleshwaram project too was completed following the special interest taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The Chief Minister, who is also a farmer, is a ‘Rythu Baandhavudu’. He introduced several schemes such as Rythu Bima, Rythu Bandhu, free power for 24/7, and procurement of paddy and maize at MSP,” Dayakar Rao said.
Alleging that the Centre brought in an agriculture Act and was also planning to bring an Electricity Bill which were detrimental to the interests of farmers, Errabelli said the Chief Minister would fight those Acts/Bills tooth and nail and protect the interests of Telangana famers. “I will also assure farmers that no meters will be fixed to the agriculture motors till K Chandrashekhar Rao is alive,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rythu Bandhu Samithi State president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said the State government was trying to unite farmers by setting Rythu Vedikas. “The Chief Minister is always biased towards farmers. He is striving to resolve their issues and has proved all the speculations made by the former Chief Ministers about Telangana with regard to power, water, etc., wrong by implementing several schemes,” he added.
