Hyderabad: A demonstration with a cow’s brain in a government school classroom in Vikarabad district has stirred a huge controversy.

Kasimbi, a school assistant in Biological Sciences, allegedly brought a cow’s brain to school and used it as a teaching aid to explain a lesson to Class X students of ZPHS (Girls) Yalal mandal in Tandur on Tuesday.

During the session, photographs were taken and they were reportedly shared in the school’s WhatsApp group, sparking concerns among fellow teachers.

As the incident came into the limelight on Wednesday, local Hindu organisation members and BJP leaders staged a protest outside the school. They accused the teacher of disrespecting religious sentiments and demanded immediate suspension.

Police, who reached the school, assured the protesters that an inquiry would be conducted and appropriate action would be initiated. Following this, the protest was called off.

Meanwhile, in a press statement, Vikarabad DEO Renuka Devi said following a complaint, Mandal Education Officer (MEO) Ramesh visited the school and conducted a preliminary inquiry with students and school staff.

Based on the initial report submitted by the MEO, the District Collector placed Kasimbi under suspension, she added.
