CPI (M) senior leader Tammineni Veerabhadram’s brother expelled from party
The CPI(M) expelled Tammineni Koteshwara Rao, brother of former State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, for violating party discipline and colluding with Congress leaders in Khammam. His wife, Tammineni Vijayalakshmi, withdrew her nomination for the Edulapuram Municipality’s 15th ward.
Khammam: Former CPI (M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram’s brother, Tammineni Koteshwara Rao has been expelled from the party.
It might be recalled that the CPI (M) candidate for 15th ward of Edulapuram Municipality in the district, Tammineni Vijayalakshmi, withdrew her nomination a couple of days ago paving the way for the Congress candidate Tammineni Mangathai’s unanimous election.
Vijayalakshmi is the wife of Koteshwara Rao, who is an accused in Mangathai’s husband Tammineni Krishnaiah’s murder that took place on August 15, 2022. The 15th municipal ward falls under Teldarpally village, a CPI (M) stronghold and a native village of Veerabhadram.
In a statement here on Thursday, CPI (M) Khammam rural mandal secretary, Vuradi Sudharshan Reddy informed that the party leader Koteshwara Rao was expelled for violating party decisions, discipline and damaging the party’s reputation. He stated that Koteshwara Rao’s actions, which were unrelated to the party, caused serious damage to the party and despite internal disciplinary actions taken on several occasions, his behaviour did not change. Many attempts were made to correct his mistakes, but to no avail.
Sudharshan Reddy further stated that in Edulapuram municipal elections, Koteshwara Rao colluded with local leaders of the rival Congress party, withdrew his wife from the contest against the party’s decision and facilitated the unopposed election of Krishnaiah’s wife.
Koteshwara Rao also attempted to withdraw the two other candidates of the party in Teldarpally village. The party cadres and the public were requested to understand the situation, he added.
