Senior advocate and character artiste CVL Narasimha Rao on Sunday announced that he would contest MAA (Movie Artistes Association) 2021 elections. Pitching forth the Telangana sentiment, CVL Rao explained as to how the artistes belonging to the region are being neglected in the movie industry. Actor Rao said he would fight against the injustice meted out to the poor and marginalised artistes hailing from both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
“My agenda is Telangana sentiment. There has been severe injustice meted out to Telangana artistes. Not just them, poor artistes and actors of Andhra Pradesh have also been suffering. As per the unanimous resolution that was passed 10 years ago, only a couple of artistes from neighbouring States should be hired in Telugu movies by giving priority to local talent. But the scenario has always been quite the opposite. All the rules have been thrown to the wind. We have the Telangana State Film Development Corporation and we have two cinematography ministries functioning in both the States, can’t we have two different MAA associations? Movie Artistes Association (MAA) Telangana was registered in 2009. But, due to some people in the industry, it didn’t see the light of the day,” said CVL Rao.

CVL Rao is the fifth MAA member to announce his candidature for the MAA polls that are due in the next couple of months. Senior actor Prakash Raj, Manchu Vishnu, Hema, Jeevitha Rajasekhar have already announced their wish to contest the elections.
