Hyderabad: The Cybercrime police officials of the Cyberabad police advised victims of Cyber crime frauds to immediately report on emergency helpline 155260 to get the transactions stopped and get the money refunded.
“In spite of heavy losses in cyber frauds that occurred in Cyberabad, immediate reporting by cyber frauds victims on the helpline number led to freezing of Rs.55,64,301 in the fraudster accounts. It will eventually be refunded to victims,” stated the Cyberabad police in a press release.
The Cyberabad police are conducting awareness programs about cybercrime at public places, educational institutions, offices and other places regularly. “All the officials including DCPs and ACPs are participating in the awareness programs,” said the Cyberabad police.
The police explain that most of the victims are falling prey to cyber crooks due to lack of awareness and their poor knowledge on digital technology. “Prevention is the first step in countering cybercrimes. The primary tool for such prevention is undoubtedly education aimed at establishing greater awareness and knowledge regarding cybercrime in the society,” the police said.
