Cyberabad Police arrest two more in Gandipet land fraud case involving fake GOs
Cyberabad Police arrested two more suspects in a land fraud case involving fake Government Orders and forged documents to claim government land in Gandipet. The accused allegedly used fabricated records, with transactions worth nearly ₹12 crore under investigation.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police on Sunday arrested two more suspects in the high-profile land fraud case involving the alleged fabrication of government records and fake Government Orders (G.Os.) to illegally claim ownership of valuable government land in Gandipet in Ranga Reddy district.
Veladi Radhakrishna (53), and his driver Gyara Praveen Kumar (34), were arrested on Sunday while three other suspects had been arrested earlier in connection with the case.
According to the police, Radhakrishna worked as an outsourcing employee in the Information Technology and Communication Department of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Secretariat between 2006 and 2009. He later used his knowledge with government procedures to betray people by falsely claiming to be a Deputy Collector and an advocate capable of securing government jobs, land regularization orders, pattadar passbooks and other official permissions.
According to the police, Radhakrishna and his associates targeted government land in Survey No. 18 of Gandipet village and assured prospective buyers that he could secure regularization and ownership rights through government approvals.
“When obtaining genuine permissions became impossible, Radhakrishna, allegedly fabricated fake Government Orders, forged proceedings of the Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA), counterfeit No-Objection Certificates, official letters and other government records,” said an official of Cyberabad police.
The officials further said that Radhakrishna, along with several associates, facilitated financial transactions, document transfers and communication among the conspirators. Financial dealings worth nearly Rs. 12 crore connected to the fraudulent land transactions were uncovered during the investigation.
Police said Radhakrishna was previously involved in several cheating cases across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He allegedly collected large sums of money from unemployed individuals by promising government jobs and later shifted his focus to large-scale land frauds.
After a case was registered against him in Narsingi police station, Radhakrishna allegedly went into hiding, while his driver Praveen Kumar helped him evade arrest by concealing documents, facilitating communication and alerting him about police movements.
The police seized fabricated government documents, including fake GOs, five laptops, 12 cheque books, 13 rubber stamps, seven bank passbooks, 10 ATM cards and 31 documents related to various land transactions.
