Hyderabad: SC Development Minister Koppula Eashwar strongly condemned the allegations by BJP State president Bandi Sanjay and MLA Eatala Rajender against the State government over implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme. He reiterated that the scheme was not aimed at Huzurabad by-elections as it was launched long before the poll dates were announced. The scheme was halted for a brief period following the orders from the Election Commission of India (ECI) in the wake of a complaint lodged by the BJP.
Speaking to media persons at the TRS Legislative Party office here on Friday, Eashwar said even after the elections concluded, the BJP leaders were busy spreading false propaganda over implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme. “People need not believe the BJP leaders and get worried about implementation of the scheme. It is an ongoing scheme and was stopped due to ECI orders. The scheme is the brain child of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and will be implemented across the State in a phased manner,” he added.
The Minister ridiculed the BJP leaders for publishing the manifesto for the Huzurabad Assembly bypoll and demanded Bandi Sanjay to get pending funds released from the Centre to the State. “Sanjay has no moral right to speak about Dalit Bandhu. He must explain what his party MPs would get sanctioned for the State from the Centre,” he said. He also found fault with Nizamabad MP D Arvind for ridiculing the SC and ST Atrocities Act and demanded him to render an unconditional apology.
He stated that the BJP and the Congress colluded to fight against TRS in Huzurabad by-elections. He said the TRS will introspect the causes for its defeat which was not connected to the schemes being implemented by the State government. “We have another two-and-a-half years of tenure to continue the good work,” he said. He pointed out that while the bypolls were held recently for 3 Parliamentary and 29 Assembly constituencies, the BJP had won only 1 Parliamentary and 8 Assembly seats.
Peddapalli MP Venkatesh Netha, MLA Methuku Anand, and MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, also spoke on the occasion.
