Medak: Former Minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Wednesday said the death of ‘kodelu’ (bulls), gifted by devotees to the presiding deity, at Vemulawada temple was a bad omen for Telangana. Speaking to reporters in Narsapur after participating in local programmes, he said 26 bulls had died over the past few days, leaving devotees in shock.
Blaming the incident on the negligence of the State government, he alleged that it had failed to provide adequate feed and care for the bulls. “If the government is unable to protect the bulls, the BRS party will take up the responsibility of looking after them,” he said.
Harish Rao also criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, alleging that while the latter made several vows at temples during the election campaign, he failed to fulfil promises even on temple premises. He accused the Congress government of cheating the people of Telangana by not implementing its six guarantees.
The former Minister said the government had failed to implement key schemes like loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa, depriving the farming community of vital support. He demanded that the pending Rythu Bharosa funds be released immediately to enable farmers to purchase seeds and fertilisers.
Though the government had promised to credit payments within 48 hours of procuring paddy, jowar, and other grains, Harish Rao claimed that Rs 1,100 crore remained pending even two months after the procurement of fine rice. Similarly, he alleged that no payments were made to jowar farmers despite the produce being purchased months ago.
Referring to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s budget assurance of providing crop insurance to farmers, Harish Rao said no steps had been taken so far. He said that under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS government had implemented schemes without any disruption and lashed out at the Congress for its alleged failures.
