To mark World Music Day, Delhi Public School Nacharam conducted a virtual assembly on July 21 which saw the participation of students from pre-primary in various musical events. Jal Tarang and band mania activity were organised on the occasion.
Jal Tarang is also known as water music. It is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world played since ancient times. The cups are tuned to the notes of a raga, being played by adjusting the amount of water.
Pre-nursery children enjoyed this activity by making sounds with different vessels and creating musical tunes. The facilitators have explained how the water level in the bowl can tune them. Adding more water will increase the pitch of the sound and vice versa.
