Asifabad: An elderly differently-abled man died of starvation and dehydration in Sirpur (T) mandal centre on Thursday.

Sirpur (T) Sub-Inspector M Ravi Kumar said the deceased, Pujari Mallesh (65), was single and a native of mandal headquarters.

Mallesh’s decomposed body was spotted in his home by some workers who sensed foul smell while they were engaged in construction work. Police suspect he may have died of starvation and dehydration some two days back. He was living alone and had no one to take care of him, resulting in the death, police said.

It is learned that Mallesh and his wife were separated some 30 years back. His wife is now living in Maharashtra. His two sons died in the past.
