Hyderabad: With an aim to bring back the lost charm of motorsports to Hyderabad, a team of friends have spearheaded Deccan Motocross, a dirt tracks motorsports company on the city outskirts.
Aravind Reddy Kommindi with his team of three friends have been engaged in the endeavour to restore Hyderabad’s status as a hub for motor sports.
“The passion for riding activities among Hyderabadis dropped with time due to the absence of facilities or events here. In the recent times, we saw several interested in motorsports travel all the way to Coimbatore, Hampi and Bengaluru to attend or participate in such events. That’s when we thought of starting one such company in Hyderabad as well for our city dwellers,” shares Aravind.
Having started by Sreedhar Reddy Nadriga, Vijith Reddy and Santosh R Thomas along with Aravind in August 2021, Deccan Motocross is the first to have a dual dirt track in the city – a six acres land near Shamshabad.
In addition to conducting dirt track motocross and autocross events every weekend, Aravind and his team also conduct training for amateurs to pick up in the sport – while mainly focussing on the technique of riding on the track in adherence to safety measures.
“Now that the Central Government has officially included motorsports under the umbrella of sports, we want a larger number of participants from Hyderabad at the Indian National Rally Championship. We have several talented racers in the city who could showcase their skills only through motor racing events like these and through Deccan Motocross, we want to encourage every such enthusiastic rider to participate in national events,” Aravind says.
Now, Deccan Motocross is all geared up for its second racing event under the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) to be held on November 13 and 14. The participant riders registered for the event will be scrutinised by the officials from FMSCI and shuffled based on the class of the vehicle (cc) and so on. Also, it is mandatory for the participants to have a FMSCI license – which can be applied through online platforms.
To further encourage more women riders in these events, Deccan Motocross has also allotted a Ladies Class apart from its regular Open Class. The entry fee for autocross is Rs 4,000 and motocross is Rs 1,500 and the winners of the event will also be awarded trophies and cash prizes, he says.
The team aims to take motorsports in Hyderabad to the next level and conduct 4*4 motor events like Utsav de Hampi and other national events and turn Deccan Motocross into a prominent motorsport company. For their upcoming events log on to their Instagram Page @deccan_motocross.
