Delhi Public School Nacharam conducted an all-encompassing special assembly on Safety Week to create awareness among the students. The guest speaker for the two-day event was Janice Verghese, Manager, Communications CyberPeace Foundation. From viruses to fires, the assembly enlightened the student on staying safe at all times. The assembly was live-streamed on Zoom and Facebook and was attended by around 900 members.
The event started with an educative speech by Janice Verghese on Cyber Safety. She informed students on ways to identify various typing of spamming and how to tackle them. Principal Sunitha Rao, then addressed the gathering motivating students to maintain safety during their upcoming vacation. She also launched secondary school’s e-magazine- DPS VIBGYOR, which is an initiative of Vice-Principal Surekha Nayani.
The students were then apprised of the different safety measures that have to be taken for different situations. It started with a mime that showed the Do’s and Don’ts of the covid-19 pandemic safety protocol. The students also paid a tribute to the frontline workers of the pandemic.
The issue of Women’s safety was also discussed as means of a talk show, an interview with an advocate from the High Court of Hyderabad followed by a demonstration of basic self-defense techniques by a student of class IX.
Charu Mathur, HoD of Social Science delivered the vote of thanks and the assembly concluded with the address of VP Surekha reiterating the need for safety measurements especially during the pandemic.
