Hyderabad: Peace is not the highest goal in life, it is the fundamental requirement is what DPS Nacharam showcased in a virtual setting to mark the International Day of Peace on September 21. History, Political Science and Legal Studies students of Senior Secondary took active part in showcasing the newer angle to the significance of the day. A day dedicated to world peace and specifically, the absence of war and violence was stressed as the need of the hour. Students felt war and violence hinder the progress of the world.
Principal Sunitha Rao, administered the pledge for world peace and further addressed the audience about the importance of peace and the need to carry its legacy forward.
After the recitation of a soulful prayer of peace, the special assembly anchored by Kripi and Srihita took the audience through the proceedings of the day with an illustrative video. This was followed by a spectacular presentation about the gestures of peace, and a role-play where students emulated the charisma of pioneers of peace like Mahatma Gandhi, Malala Yousufzai, Nelson Mandela and many more. An audio-visual presentation of the story of Sadako Sassaski enthralled the audience. All these disseminated the message of peace and prosperity.
The senior vice-principal Nandita Sunkara underscored the role of today’s youth as leaders and bearers of world peace. She highlighted the relevance of peace and non-violence in recent times. The assembly served as a medium to sensitize the children to the sufferings of war and its impact on humankind and how peace can be a stronger weapon than war.
