Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a drunk woman allegedly killed her two-year-old son by throttling him to death at Ramannaguda village in Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday night. A family dispute led to the killing, police said.

The woman, D.Parameshwari (22) lived with her husband D.Shiva Kumar and son D.Dhanush Kumar and her in-laws. According to the police, Parameshwari, who has a drinking problem, often picked up fights with her husband and in-laws, sometimes in an inebriated condition. Late on Tuesday evening, Parameshwari is said to have got herself drunk and started an altercation with her father-in-law D.Venkataiah in an inebriated condition.

“Her father-in-law questioned her about her drinking habit and neglecting the child and her responsibilities. Infuriated, she picked up the child, took him into a room and throttled him to death with her own hands,” police said. By the time Venkataiah realized what was happening and rushed in, the infant had already died.

The family members, who were shocked by the incident, immediately lodged a complaint with the Chevella police station, who have registered a case and have taken Parameshwari into custody. The infant’s body was shifted to the Government Hospital in Chevella for autopsy.
