Huzurabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said BJP candidate Eatala Rajender and other leaders were spreading falsehood to provoke the people in their attempt to garner votes in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency by-poll scheduled to be held on October 30.
“We (TRS leaders) are clearly listing out the developmental works to be taken up if TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav win the by-election. Instead of speaking about their plans for the constituency, the BJP leaders are provoking the people. Rajender doesn’t stand a chance of winning the by-poll. Even if he wins, he won’t take up developmental works whereas even after October 30, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will be in the post and will continue with all the developmental works”, the Minister said, addressing an election campaign in Madipalli of Jammikunta mandal.
Slamming Rajender for spreading lies that TRS was distributing Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 to attract voters, Harish Rao said it was the BJP candidate who was distributing sewing machines, wall clocks, grinders, cell phones and umbrellas.
Urging the electorate to be careful of symbols like roti maker and road roller that are similar to the car symbol of TRS, he said in Dubbak by-election, TRS lost 3,600 votes because of these other symbols. “Elderly people should be particularly careful while exercising their franchise on car symbol,” he said.
Talking about Dalit Bandhu, he said except a few, the amount under the scheme was deposited in the bank accounts of all beneficiaries. The Election Commission suspended the implementation of the scheme till October 30 as BJP leaders wrote to EC seeking suspension of the scheme. Dalits, who did not get the amount, will be provided Rs 10 lakh after November 4 and all the business units are chosen by them would be grounded, Harish Rao assured.
He along with government officials would again visit the village and fulfil all the promises made during the election campaign if TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav was elected in by-polls. Problems of all sections of the society would be solved in a phased manner.
People of Huzurabad elected Rajender as MLA six times but he neglected the constituency, he said, adding that the Chief Minister sanctioned 4,000 double bedroom houses to each Minister’s constituency. While all the Ministers completed construction of 2BHK houses in their respective constituencies, Rajender failed to complete even a single house, he said.
Promising to construct houses, Harish Rao assured to give Rs 5.4 lakh to people who were having their own house sites. Earlier, farmers used to face severe hardships due to frequent burns of agriculture pump sets and transformers. Farmers used to incur debts by spending Rs 30,000 and Rs 5,000 to repair transformers and pump sets.
The problem was solved with the uninterrupted power supply after the formation of the Telangana State. Farmers used to be scared to sow crops in the Yasangi season due to the lack of water in the SRSP canal.
However, the situation has changed with the Chief Minister taking initiatives to flow water in canals throughout the year by completing Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima have also been given to farmers to protest their interests.
Rajender has joined the BJP party, which imposed a huge burden on farmers by increasing diesel charges. The prices of diesel and petrol were increased 17 times within a span of 21 days.
The Union government led by BJP, who abolished marketing facilities by bringing new agriculture Acts, has decided to fix meters to agriculture pump sets. While the central government waived Rs 10 lakh crores loans of corporate companies, Chandrashekahar Rao waived the loans of farmers and weavers.
