Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Monday urged Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan to provide more Covid vaccine stock so that the Covid vaccination process can be expedited across Telangana.

In a video conference with Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday, Rajender said that despite rising Covid infections across the country, the number of Covid cases have continued to remain under control in Telangana.

“The spread of Covid infections is concentrated in urban centres like Hyderabad and neighbouring districts in Telangana. Unlike last year, so far hospitalisations due to Covid infections have remained under control. Our healthcare workers are doing their best to track positive patients who are in home quarantine. Those who do not have a quarantine facility at home are being provided with a Government quarantine facility,” he said.

Later, while interacting with press persons, Rajender said that all Government hospitals in Telangana have adequate staff, stock of medicine and liquid oxygen for Covid positive patients.

“At present, there are adequate beds available at private and Government hospitals and there is no need to panic. I personally spoke to the managements of private hospitals and urged them to self-regulate the treatment costs. Unlike last year, this time around, we have a lot of information related to Covid infections and we are confident that Telangana should be able to contain further spread of infections,” Rajender said.

In the video conference with Dr Harsh Vardhan, Rajender said that the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP), which was recently launched by Ministry of Health Family Welfare (MoHFW), would go a long way in improving diseases surveillance, especially 33 different kinds of communicable diseases across the State.

In the video conference with Dr Harsh Vardhan, Rajender said that field level workers including Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANMs), medical officers at Primary Health Centres (PHC), lab technicians and others have received training on handling the IHIP health portal and creating electronic health records for patients are the field level.
