Hyderabad: The very famous temple of Medak – Edupayalu Vana Durga Bhavani temple is filled with all possible colours and lights for its annual jatara which began today – on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
This year, an idol of lord Shiva sitting on a throne with a blazing sun like structure behind him has been built at the temple premises for devotees to offer their prayers.
Devotees from across the state have been thronging the temple to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga Bhavani and Lord Shiva. In addition, the jatara also has a small mela attached to the temple with some ferry rides and stalls for all the visitors to enjoy.
Built in the 12th century, the Edupayalu temple is a picturesque shrine located amidst the lush green forest and natural stone formations inside a den. The location marks the confluences of seven rivulets into the Manjeera River and hence the name Edupayala, which means Edu (seven) and Payalu (streams).
