Hyderabad: As part of the State government’s endeavour to bring district administrations not only closer to the people but also make it accessible under one roof, eight more Integrated District Collectorate Complexes in the State will be thrown open to the public soon. The officials are waiting for Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s appointment to fix the date for the inauguration, likely to take place before the Dasara festival season.
The new Integrated District Collectorate Complexes awaiting inauguration are those in Nizamabad, Jagitial, Peddapalli, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Yadadri Bhongir, Jangaon and Vikarabad. The Chief Minister has already inaugurated the Integrated Collectorate Complexes in Warangal Urban, Siddipet, Kamareddy and Rajanna Sircilla districts.
“All the eight Integrated Collectorate Complexes are ready and the woodwork too has been completed. We only need to tidy them up before the inauguration,” a senior official of the Roads and Buildings Department told Telangana Today. He said since the Chief Minister was busy with the launch of Telangana Dalit Bandhu and other pressing issues, the inauguration was delayed. Besides these eight, the remaining complexes will be ready for inauguration before the Sankranti festival.
Chandrashekhar Rao decided to take up the construction of new District Collectorates in 2018, after observing that people were forced to run from one corner of the district headquarters to another to visit district-level offices of different departments. In tune with his plans to construct an Integrated Secretariat Complex at the State capital in Hyderabad, he asked the officials to construct Integrated District Collectorate Complexes to bring all the district-level offices under one roof.
Accordingly, the government took up the construction of 28 Integrated Collectorate Complexes at an expenditure of Rs 1,500 crore. Of these, four have been already inaugurated and eight others are ready for inauguration. Of the remaining 16, around 13 collectorate complexes are at different stages of completion. However, the construction of collectorate complexes in Karimnagar, Mulugu and Narayanpet districts which were sanctioned recently. are yet to begin.
Spread over 1.5-1.7 lakh sqft each, the integrated district complexes are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore to Rs 60 crore each. They comprise waiting rooms for the public, auditoriums, conferences halls with modern communication equipment, parking spaces, toilets and other amenities. The complexes will also have a helipad to facilitate the movement of VIPs. These complexes will also house the residence-cum-camp office of the district collector and additional collector.
