Elderly farmer dies of suspected sunstroke in Mulugu
An elderly farmer was found dead in a dried-up tank in Puredupalli of Mangapet mandal in Mulugu district, with villagers suspecting sunstroke. The incident occurred amid severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures touching 44°C over the past two days.
Mulugu: An elderly farmer reportedly died of sunstroke at Puredupalli of Mangapet mandal in the district.
According to the locals, the farmer Utukuri Somi Reddy (78) of Ramachandrunipeta in the mandal was found dead on Saturday in a dried up Ooracheruvu tank. He went to his agriculture field located near the tank on Friday.
The villagers suspect that Somi Reddy might have suffered a heat stroke, collapsed in the tank and subsequently died. They noted that for the past two days, maximum temperatures in Mangapet mandal have reached 44 degrees Celsius accompanied by hot winds.
