Elderly man attempts suicide during Prajavani in Sircilla
An elderly man from Rudrangi mandal attempted suicide by consuming pesticide during the Prajavani grievances programme in Rajanna Sircilla. Upset over official inaction on his complaints against his son for neglect and harassment, he was rushed to hospital by police.
Rajanna Sircilla: An elderly man attempted suicide by consuming pesticide during the Prajavani public grievances programme at the Integrated District Office Complex (IDOC) here on Monday, reportedly upset over the administration’s failure to resolve his problems.
The man, identified as Azmeera Vittal of Rudrangi mandal, arrived with his wife Veerabadra to submit a representation to officials. During the programme, he consumed pesticide. Police personnel present at the venue immediately shifted him to hospital.
According to reports, Vittal’s son Naresh, who has been cultivating the family’s land, allegedly neglected his parents and even drove them away from their home. Vittal had earlier submitted a petition to the Collector and lodged a complaint with the local police.
However, with no action forthcoming, Vittal resorted to the extreme step in front of the district officials at Prajavani.
