The students of class VI of Gitanjali Primary School had loads of fun comparing and contrasting music videos of the 1970s with those of the present ones. The children evoked quite a bit of nostalgia when they dressed up as actors of the bygone era and danced to the lilting tunes of 1970s cinema during a virtual event held recently. They dressed up in the latest fashion and rocked their way through the songs of the 21st Century.
The children compared the lyrics of the 1970s songs to those of the present, made observations on the differences in settings and background and also showcased the costume differences and theme variations in both eras. It was refreshing and engaging to see the children sing, dance and talk on the topics that appeal to the young and old alike: music and cinema. A splash of creativity in the videos made by the students proved again that instead of bringing us down, the changed scenario of education in these testing times has brought out our grit, ideas, and innovation to the forefront and our children have simply taken a cue from Albert Einstein who said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change .”
