Hyderabad: World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16. The day not only makes us realise how privileged we are to gorge on the delicacies of the world but also raises awareness about the not-so-privileged people.
The day acknowledges the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation and also highlights the section across the globe that starves from extreme hunger. The Food and Agriculture Association (FAO) was coined on October 16, 1945, by the United Nations. The year 2021 marks the 76th anniversary of this historic day.
World Food Day acknowledges the founding of the Food and Agriculture organisation and also highlights the section across the globe that starves from extreme hunger. Starvation is a big problem in a host of countries, particularly in the underdeveloped parts of the world and awareness is required to effectively address this issue.
Malnutrition and hunger are currently two major challenges for all developing and non-developed countries in the world. Despite active measures taken by governments all around the globe billions of people remain at risk of hunger. No surprise why so many efforts are made in that direction to ensure food for everyone and eradicate hunger. World Food Day is another such step.
It is worth spending some time researching the different ways the countries all around the world honour World Food Day. More than 150 countries participate in this day, and there are conferences and different events that happen all around the world.
World Food Day is not only about celebrating the amazing food that we have the privilege of indulging in, but it is about raising awareness for people who do not have such privilege. There are people all over the world who are suffering from hunger. Starvation is a massive problem in several countries, and we need to do more to raise awareness and combat this problem.
